About us

A civic vision.
An institution to carry it.

Boise Rising brings together a vision for Boise, public projects, and the stories that help people see what is possible. Boise Civic Trust, Inc. is the nonprofit behind that work.

Our mission

To build the civic foundations that restore meaning, coherence, and beauty to our world.

Why we exist

A path ends before it reaches a neighborhood. A landmark needs care. A public space has promise, but no clear route forward. Residents see these things every day.

Improving them often requires several owners, agencies, professions, and sources of funding to work together. We help assemble that work: make the possibility clear, develop a practical project, and bring together the people who can carry it forward.

From a possibility
to a project.

We begin on the ground, learning from the people who use a place and the work already underway. We develop ideas, clarify responsibilities, find partners and funding, and organize the next stage.

Engineers, architects, planners, and other qualified professionals lead the specialized work in their fields.

Eric Morrison

Founder, Boise Rising
Executive Director, Boise Civic Trust

Eric’s work connects media, the built environment, and civic project development. He spent years making complex construction and design technologies understandable through writing, photography, and film, then founded Alley Homes to help Boise homeowners explore small-scale housing through site research, design coordination, and feasibility work.

Those experiences converged around a larger question: how do the places we build shape public life? He founded Boise Rising and now leads Boise Civic Trust to turn that question into practical work—bringing research, people, and resources together to advance places worth caring for.
